It is important to personally visit the nursing home you are considering. A visit provides insight into the atmosphere, available facilities, and the people who live and work there.
Ask questions and inquire about the amenities that matter most to you.
3. Arrange a Residency Indication if Needed
To live in a nursing home, you usually need a “residency indication” from the CIZ (Central Care Assessment Agency). You can apply for this yourself, possibly with the help of a family member or caregiver. Your general practitioner or home care organization can also apply on your behalf.
Private nursing homes do not require an indication, but you must cover the costs yourself.
4. Decide What to Bring
When packing, carefully consider what you will need in your new home. Rooms in nursing homes are often smaller than your current home, so not all belongings can come along.

5. Set Up Your New Living Space
You can furnish your new room with items from your old home, but some new items may be necessary. Ensure essential connections such as phone, television, and internet are arranged.
