What about customs?

When moving internationally, you will have to deal with customs. Especially if you are moving to a non-EU country. In that case, there is a good chance you will have to pay taxes on the import of your household goods. But how does this work exactly? To make it easier for you, we have created the overview below on this page.

Moving within the EU?

Good news! You can take your household goods with you without having to declare them. This applies both in the Netherlands and in your new country of residence.

There are, however, exceptions for certain cases or products.

Moving to or from Norway

Please note! Norway is not part of the EU, but the export of your household goods from the Netherlands and their import into Norway is done using a T-document (export document). No taxes are due for this, and we handle the process for you!

Moving to a country outside the EU?

If you are moving from Scandinavia to a country outside the EU, you must declare your household goods to customs in both the Netherlands and your destination country. During the declaration with Dutch customs, it is important to indicate that you wish to import your household goods tax-free.

We can take care of this declaration for you. We know exactly which exemptions you may be eligible for.
